The Hotel Wessobrunn in Meran is the ideal starting point for excursions during your holiday in South Tyrol. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll in the spa town of Meran or a panoramic hike in the South Tyrolean mountains – you can choose among beautiful promenades, ancient irrigation channel paths, and high-altitude Alpine treks. Decide what you feel like doing each day and experience unique moments on your holiday in Burggrafenamt. The best part? For many excursions, you can set off on foot from the hotel.

The Tappeinerweg trail

Our hotel offers direct access to the Tappeinerweg trail. Thanks to its sunny location, it can be enjoyed all year round. In just under four kilometres, it leads you above the rooftops to the centre of Meran. The path was established by spa doctor and botanist Franz Tappeiner around 200 years ago. Enjoy the spectacular view over Meran and Environs and discover the diversity of Alpine and Mediterranean flora as the Tappeinerweg is lined with over 400 plant species.

The Meran high altitude trail

The Meran high altitude trail is one of the most beautiful circular hiking trails in the Alpine region. It offers not only impressive views of the Meran region, Val Venosta/Vinschgau, and the countryside as far as Bolzano but also insights into the world of South Tyrolean mountain farmers. Experience the diversity of the mountain world in the Texel Group Nature Park; here, you hike between dense forests, along rugged rock faces, and past mountain pastures. Various refreshment stops invite you to stop and enjoy yourself.

The Algund Waalweg trail

If your hiking preferences lean toward the gentle and level, a must-do excursion during your stay at the Hotel Wessobrunn is the Algund Waalweg trail, along an ancient irrigation channel. It leads from the village of Algund to Gratsch, where it merges with the Tappeinerweg trail. Stroll past lush vineyards and fragrant apple orchards, accompanied by the gentle lapping of the irrigation channel. Wooden benches along the path invite you to linger. Enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the Val d'Adige/Etschtal valley and fully embrace the pleasures of life.
